Like most austenitic stainless steel, grade 202 is non-magnetic. The content of nickel in grade 304 is two times that of alloy 202. And the composition of grade 202 Stainless Steel Sheet contains about 17% chromium, which is at par with grade 304. This alloy is referred to as a kind of stainless steel whose major alloying contents include chromium, nickel, and manganese, in that order. The properties of alloy 202 Stainless Steel Rings are reminiscent of that of austenitic grade 302. While the alloy is not suited to applications at elevated temperatures. The alloy is tough and at lower temperatures, this property is rated as outstanding. Hence, the ASTM A240 Tp 202 Shims are suited for projects in environments that have low temperature settings.

Grade 202 is a precipitation hardened alloy. Due to the use of a precipitation hardening process, there are some improvements noted in the alloy. For instance, the hardness and toughness properties increase along with the mechanical and yield strength of the Stainless Steel Plate 202. The corrosion resistance properties of the alloy range between good to moderate. This alloy rusts easily in the presence of moisture. And hence, suppliers do not recommend using the 202 stainless steel coil in applications involving brine, seawater, or even applications whose proximity to the sea is close. The suitability of this grade is in those industries where the A240 Gr202 Circles are not exposed to pollutive gases either from the factory or from the atmosphere. Using a protective finish could be an effective remedy for this issue.
